Air Condition and Cabin Air Filter Videos

Air Condition and Cabin Air Filer - Additional Information

Air Condition System

Your vehicle's Air Condition System controls and cools the temperature inside your vehicles.  In Trinidad and Tobago's hot climate, you don't want to be stuck in traffic in the middle of the day and have your A/C go out on you.

  • Is the blower fan working in your cabin but A/C is not cooling as much or not at all?
  • The defroster takes longer than normal to function, blows in filthy air, or doesn't operate
  • Your A/C only operates when driving, not when idling, or stops blowing when the vehicle is still
  • The air conditioning blows warm
  • At the highest setting, your vents do not put out much air

A/C systems can wear out over time with use. Hoses can easily stop-up and leak if not serviced.  Routine maintenance can keep the inside of your vehicle cool and comfortable.

Speak to our Service Manager if you are experiencing any of these symptoms.

Schedule regular annual inspection services to catch issues before they turn into a full failure.

Cabin Air Filter

Your vehicle comes with a cabin air filter to clean the air coming into the passenger compartment. It filters out dust, pollen, mold spores and other pollutants. The cabin air filter keeps the inside environment fresh and free of annoying airborne allergens.

The cabin air filter in your vehicle gets filled up over time. When that happens:

  • dust and other contaminants are able to get into the inside air.
  • You may notice unpleasant odors.
  • If you have allergies, you may find yourself sneezing more often and have itchy, watery eyes and throat irritation when driving.
  • As the particles build up over time, the filter becomes plugged.  You may find your car is not cooling as well or the fan seems to not be blowing as much, even if you have it on max.
  • Your windows start to fog up more.
  • If left untreated, the inside of your heating and air conditioning ducts accumulate moisture and mold or mildew can start to grow there. At best, this will give of an unpleasant, musty odor. At worst, it can affect your health. - Don't mask the issue with an Air Freshener.

The cabin air filter should be checked on schedule and replaced as needed. If you live in an area will a lot of dust, pollen or other air pollution, you may need to change the filter more often.

Scheduled Cabin Air Filter replacement service

  • Option 1:  Normal conditions.  Typically, your Cabin Air Filter can be replaced every 20,000 km
  • Option 2:  High Frequency / Extreme Conditions.  In extreme driving conditions (pollution, dust, sand, heat, humidity) as found in Trinidad, you should plan for Cabin Air Filter replacement every 10,000 km.

  • If you or your passengers suffer from allergies or respiratory problems, you should plan for an Option 2 schedule.

Cabin Air Filter Inspection - free with every Federal Service call

  • If your vehicle is being serviced at Federal on a regular basis, rest assured that you have a free Cabin Air Filter inspection done every time your car is in.  This inspection will advise you of the ongoing health of your Cabin Air filter, before issues arise.
